Should Have Paid Up!: State Dept. Stinted Kiev on the Bribe Money, Dirty Dealings Come Out!

Pyotr Poroshenko's visit to Brussels went unnoticed, and he has just returned. It made Poroshenko worried, and, on his Facebook, he said «thank you» to everybody who took photos with him. He can't be grateful to Ukraine's Attorney General Office, as they have accused the Ukrainian ambassador in the intervention.

Anton Lyadov will continue.

A total fabrication. This is likely to be the most civil phasing for the reaction to today's news. Ukraine's Attorney General, Yuri Lutsenko, gave an interview to the famous American political media, The Hill. By the way, reading it is often the first thing in the morning for American politicians. In this interview, Lutsenko made a statement of a kind that can start international scandals. He told about his acquaintance with the American ambassador to Ukraine.

“Unfortunately, from the first meeting with the U.S. ambassador in Kiev, Yovanovitch gave me a list of people whom we should not prosecute.”

In other words, according to Lutsenko, a representative of the state located in another hemisphere informed Ukraine's Attorney General whom they can arrest and whom they can't. Who those untouchables are is unclear. The U.S. State Department called it a fabrication. Lutsenko has another accusation against Washington: Ukraine's Attorney General's Office didn't receive almost $4 million that the USA's embassy’s agency was supposed to allocate.

“The situation was actually rather strange because the funds we are talking about were designated for the prosecutor general's office also and we told them we have never seen them and the U.S. Embassy replied there was no problem.”

Washington responded that they decided to allocate the money to more important projects. «When the political will for genuine reform by successive Prosecutors General proved lacking, we exercised our fiduciary responsibility to the American taxpayer and redirected assistance to more productive projects».

As for the head of the American diplomatic mission, Maria Yovanovitch, today, she patronized another Ukrainian public figure, the head of the Ministry of the Internal Affairs, Arsen Avakov. She gave recommendations on how to maintain peace and order during the election. However, the only thing Avakov seems to be experienced with is dividing people. He seemed to be going to defend Russian speakers but did it in a peculiar way.

Arsen Avakov, Minister of Internal Affairs: «We should respect our citizens, I'll emphasize, our citizens, not Russian citizens, who are used to reading and thinking and expressing their thoughts in the Russian language».

All of it happens on the background of the election campaign. Poroshenko, exploiting his opportunity to wait for the invitation to meet with European politicians, flew to Brussels to support anti-Russian sanctions. Then he posted a picture on his Facebook with a «thank you» to everyone who was in the photo with him.

«I thank the President of the European Council, Donald Tusk, the President of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker, and the President of the European Parliament, Antonio Tajani, for their support of Ukraine. Together, we'll win!»

Analysts who study confidence in governments seem to have no idea about Poroshenko's victories. According to Gallup, Ukraine has been demonstrating the world's lowest level of people's confidence in the government for two years in a row. It's a mere 9% when there are only nine days left until the elections.
